I recently got a baofeng 8.5v uv21r with a abbree ar-771 antenna from temu and I'm trying to learn how to use it without getting into trouble. I first learned on a old analog home unit when I was like 7 or 8 years old so around 30 years ago. I recently learned about the MURS frequencies that I can use without a license until I can afford to get one. Anybody got advice for me? I'm on green dot. 154.60000/ I changed over to murs 3 151.94000 N after reading about the new repeater for murs 3 on 8$ mtn.

Welcome I am Craig WRPJ605 A I can program your radio with the local AMR, Fire. OSP, Sheriff MURS, FRS Channels for free. I call it the IVARC CHIRP programming. I will be at Taylors on Tuesday August 11 from 5Pm to 7Pm is our IVARC Club meeting or another time can be planned.
The Baofeng UV-21R is a versatile and affordable dual-band handheld transceiver designed for amateur radio enthusiasts and professionals alike. It operates on both VHF (136-174 MHz, 220-260MHz) and UHF (400-480 MHz) frequencies,
Your radio will operate on license free MURS 3 151.9400 MHz and GMRS/FRS 3 462.6125 MHz. Monday nights 7Pm 462.000 MHz PL 141.3 located on 8 Dollar mountain is the IVARC Net. After the net we change channels to GMRS/FRS 3 then we move to MURS 3, at the end of each net we ask for guests that would like to join us, you can check in then. We have a page here on how to get your GMRS license then you can use the repeater. I am net control tonight I will be announcing on the IVARC repeater when we are changing channels. We meet back on the repeater to announce the net totals for the night.
I monitor MURS 3 So give 605 OBRIEN a call if you want to test your radio.

I'll be listening. I already started the process of getting my gmrs and applied for the FRS but then realized it doesn't fully cover my radio and that they're two separate things. I tried calling you a few times on murs 3 earlier but didn't get any response.
 
You first need a FRN # then you apply for a GMRS license. Thanks for checking in last night. You are too far from me for me to hear you on FRS/MURS, I live in Obrien. That is why I ask for relays and Mike help us last night. He lives on Rockydale. It is good practice for when we have no repeaters. Most of our group has mobile base stations at home with external antennas.
I tell everyone, antenna, antenna is more than the radio for good operations.
 
Frn # is what I meant not frs, I already applied for mine but didn't finish applying for it through the FCC because my funds are really tight right now I'm epileptic from a car accident and still trying to get my social security. I'm also on rockydale
